It was august 2009 when I was in Korfu, on holiday. I was walking in the streets of the city looking for clothes to buy. All the shops had small sizes and I felt terrible. Again problems with my size I thought. Then all of a sudden I looked across the street and I saw a nice blouse at the window from Regina’s Boutique. I went in the shop and all the clothes they had were also in my size. There was MAT fashion, beautiful I thought. I felt like a little child in a candy shop. I didn’t know what to try on, but Regina came and help. When I put it on she said, god you look like a Mat model. I was laughing and thought, yes that is a dream everyone could have in life. I still remember that day so well. I bought a few things from MAT and went back to the hotel. When I was there I was still thinking about the clothes I didn’t buy. The next day I said to a friend and my children, I have to go back to Regina’s boutique. There was one blouse I could not forget, it was beautiful. I couldn’t get it out my mind. So I called to the shop asking if they still had it, and yes it was there in my size. I took the bus again to the city, 60 km away from the hotel in 45 degrees sun. I walked all the way from the bus station to pick up my blouse. I felt very good and went back again to the hotel. In the evening I wear Mat and I felt very special. I looked so nice and people were looking at me. I had more confidence than usually.

In august 2010 I went to Kos island. So I wrote to Mat fashion for addresses were I could buy their clothes at Kos. There was a shop in Kardamena and Kos city. So I called the shop Trends at Kardamena if they had Mat. That day I took the bus and went to buy some nice items. In the evening when I was wearing Mat, people were staring at me and gave me compliments. I felt again very special. But than I was wondering what the shop had in the city. So I went there also. I came there and the lady’s at Inside boutique were so nice. They even drove me with their car to the bus station when I was leaving. They had so much from Mat that it was difficult to choose from. I bought the most beautiful items I could find. Mat fashion for me is very special, I feel very feminine and sexy. It is the quality, materials and special applications they use. I even keep the beautiful price tasks.

When I came back to Holland I wanted to change something in my life. I am a single mother of two children and they mean the world to me. But over the last 10 years I didn’t do anything but working and raising my children. I red in a newspaper about the miss maxi competition Holland. I thought with Mat fashion I feel like a model, so why not. I put a application form and send a photo. I got a letter back and on 10 October I will be in the first round. In the mean time I wrote to Mat fashion in Germany, for addresses where I can buy Mat. I life only 5 minutes away from the border to Germany. There’s a shop PELO MODEN at Krefeld, who has a lot from MAT fashion. Now it is that Pelo moden and Mat fashion are going to help me with the cloth I need for the competition. Hopefully I make it. If not I would be very sad, but I don’t give up. I found now a fashion brand I feel very special with and it makes me want to become a model for plus-size.

What I want to say to all the women who are insecure about themselves. Do not give up, no matter what situation you are in. Find something for yourself and change things. The quote from Mat fashion (FREE YOURSELF) helped me a lot in my changes of my life.

Πώς σου φάνηκε η εμπειρία της φωτογράφισης και της προετοιμασίας απο την ομάδα του Next Top Model;
Ήταν μια πολύ πρωτότυπη και ξεχωριστή εμπειρία που σε κάνει να ξεφεύγεις απο την καθημερινότητα και σε βάζει σε μια άλλη πραγματικότητα : Αυτή που πάντα νόμιζες οτι ποτέ δεν θα μπορούσε να συμβεί και δεν είναι για σένα.
Ποιά η γνώμη σου για τα λάθος πρότυπα που η μόδα μας επιβάλλει;
Ο ρατσισμός απέναντι στις γυναίκες με καμπύλες, σίγουρα υπάρχει στο χώρο της μόδας αλλα αν αποδέχεσε εσύ ο ίδιος τον ευατό σου τότε είναι πιο εύκολο να σε αποδεχτούν και οι άλλοι. Να σε βλέπουν για αυτό που είσαι και όχι για αυτό που φαίνεσαι.
Θα παρότρυνες τα υπόλοιπα κορίτσια να συμμετέχουν στη διαδικασία επιλογής των mat girls;
Χαλαρά! Να στείλουν φωτογραφίες οπωσδήποτε! Χωρίς δεύτερη σκέψη. Μόνο η mat θα μπορούσε να τους δώσει την ευκαιρία να ζήσουν το όνειρό τους στη μόδα.
